Review:

Cheerleader meets goth! But the thing is: Will Killian isn't really a goth. The deal is: Will has sixth sense; he can see and hear ghosts. But what makes his situation worse is that the school is infested with ghosts who seek the help of someone who sees them. The only thing that keeps Will distracted from these ghosts is Marcie, his ipod. But, all hell break loose when the principal took Marcie leaving Will vulnerable in the hands of persistent (read: annoying) ghosts.

Alona Dare was the school's queen bee until she got hit by a school bus. (I know! *snickers*). She then finds herself not quite in heaven but not quite in hell as well. She spends her days as a ghost observing students from her school. Among them are her best friend and boyfriend who immediately hooked up a couple of days after she died. After finding out that Will can see and hear her, she becomes his 'spirit guide.' And then... well, the story pretty much started to become mooorre interesting from here.

The Ghost and the Goth is light, funny and fast-paced. I so loved the characters! While Will is not what you'd call funny or humorous, the funny things seem to follow him around which makes him a very amusing character. Alona, the opposite of Will, is the typical bitchy, snobby cheerleader. She was at the top of the social ladder while Will was barely at the first rung. I like how this book follows the 'unlikely couple' trope, because I'm a total sucker for those kinds of love story. I also like how the story seemed cliched, but not really. I'm grateful that it didn't follow the cliche path when you really think it would. I can totally see this book as Disney movie, but in a totally uberly good way. I'll even watch it if it were!

The Ghost and the Goth is not the type of supernatural YA which even when unrealistic seems realistic. Stacey has some takes on ghosts that are out of this world-out of this world (if you know what I mean). In books, I'm not too fond of unexplainable events. I always tend to seek the reasons why this particular event is happening. This book lacked that. But for the first time, I didn't care! The book was a really fun-read and I could read over and over again!
