Review:

Never did I imagine I'd fall in love with a book like Nevermore until I read it. With 543 pages, this book was totally worth a 2-day nonstop read.
Varen. This emoticon sums up what I feel for him: . Really, I got this creepy grin on my face while sprouting imaginary hearts from the back of my head as I read the book.

But, moving on. Nevermore came out as a really HUGE surprise. For one, I wasn't expecting to be blown away by this book. Two, honestly? I only started reading it for the sake of reading something. But, wow. It has so much more to it than meets the eye! Varen himself was an uberly nice treat already. But combine it with a breath-taking plot... it's a roller-coaster ride of adventure to the extremes! I really couldn't ask for more! Except maybe more Varen, and more intimate scenes between V and Iz? By the way, I really loved Varen's character - if that's not apparent enough. His goth-ness is dead on authentic; something I didn't know I missed in YA novels until I read this book. And now, I'm afraid I'll be stressing over searching for other goth x cheerleader YA books. Woe is me.

I liked that Isobel is not the typical snobby and bitchy cheerleader. She is independent, strong, and she would do anything to get Varen back in her life. I like how it's the guy who needs the rescue here. I love how their relationship started. That same I-didn't-like-you-at-first-but-then-I-noticed-how-hot-you-are-and-now-I'm-totally-in-like-with-you kind of start we all know about, and probably think is too cliched, but we always buy anyway. You can actually see their relationship's development, which made me really giddy. Also, she's got an awesome brother and a protective -unless it's her ex- father. I love how her brother tries to cover up for her in exchange of money or service - literally XD. Every time he appears in the book, he doesn't fail to make me crack a grin.

I admire Kelly Creagh for the plot. It's something I've never read before. And the fact that this is based on E.A. Poe's life is brilliant. I've been quite interested with Poe's life ever since reading his poem, Annabel Lee. I thought it was super sweet and tragic. The Dreamland reminds me of Alice's Wonderland - just make it darker, creepier and exciting x100!

I really cannot wait for the next book to come out. If you haven't read Nevermore, I highly recommend that you do it now! It's 543 pages long but it's totally worth it!

About the Author:

As a child, Kelly would hold elaborate one-kid plays for patient relatives, complete with song, dance, and over-the-top melodramatics. Then, whenever Mom or Grandma called for a break, she would venture outside to slay dragons, run from make-believe ghosts and create magical feasts for fairies out of mud and pinecones.
In the third grade, Kelly wrote her first book titled Pink Lettuce, a story about a young girl who comes to the aid of her mad scientist neighbor, helping him to return his potion-pink lettuce patch to its original green and leafy luster.
Kelly holds an undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults. Today, she finds true joy in transcribing her dramatic daydreams onto the stage of the blank page. When not writing or curled up with a good book, Kelly can be found teaching, learning and performing the ancient art of Bellydance.

WOW. I am SO excited to read this now!! I picked up a copy from the library the other day but I also received a ton of other books in the mail so this kind of got pushed down. Talk about a turnaround - you're pushing this right up near the top now! It sounds so good, I hope I love it as much as you did! Fantastic review!
