I'm challenging myself to read more classic novels throughout year 2011. There are plenty great classic novels and it's always interesting to read how people back in the oldies lived their lives and of course all the adventures!
By the end of year I will held a giveaway special for those who participate in this challenge. The giveaway will be classic books worth $15 from Book Depository or Amazon.com, you can pick the titles yourself.
By the end of year I will held a giveaway special for those who participate in this challenge. The giveaway will be classic books worth $15 from Book Depository or Amazon.com, you can pick the titles yourself.
If you want to join in, here are the rules:
- You can read any classic novels which are included in list of Wordsworth Classics. You don't need to read wordsworth edition, you can pick any publisher releases as long as those releases are unabridged.
- It’s okay to re-read. You can put the book you’ve read in the past in your list as long as you’re going to read it again in 2011. Set your target and list the book you want to read along with the challenge button in your blog and fill the form. Don't forget to put the link in Mr. Linky! This way I can keep track of your progress and add you as candidate for the giveaway.
- You don't have to review those books but if you want you can link them so I can read it ^^. I will provide a follow-up blog post for that and you can link your reviews or anything related to this challenge.
- This is a year-long challenge (Jan 1, 2011 - Dec 23, 2011) so you can still commit to it in the middle of year 2011. All you need to do is fill the form. I will announce the giveaway winner on December 25, 2011.
- UPDATE!!
Every month I will post a follow up post for this challenge and link it here: You can link your review or progress in each follow-up post starting on February.

I'd love to join but I have some question.
Do I have to read the English Version?
In Indonesia, there are lots of classic books that have been translated by the local publisher. Is that also count? or I
It's not easy for me to buy and get the English copy.
Except the eBook, but I am not sure if it's free or not
Hi Aleetha ^^
I would prefer English version but if you can't find it,it's ok to use local version as long as those are complete and unabridged. I found several translation that cut some 500 pages into 200-ish pages. Now that's ridiculous!
Although it will be nice if at least you read 1-2 english version. Several sites offer free classic novels ebook. Try google it ^^
I'm joining this contest! Great way to motivate me to read all those classics I still have on my shelves (: Thanks for hosting!
@ Celine, thanks for joining!
Absolutely joining! I need to read more classics as well. Thanks for hosting this challenge! :)
Thanks for joining Deandra ^^
Awesome Challenge! Now I will be motivated to read those classic books I have been meaning to read. :)
Thanks for joining Jennifer! Good luck on the challenge ^^
I'm very interested! One question, do cross-overs from other challenges count?
Thanks for hosting this, I always try to squeeze some classics, now I have an excuse.
@Cindy, yes you're free to combine it with other challenge. As a matter fact I did that as well ^^
@Samita, thanks for joining in!
I think it will be and refreshing to read some of the "greats".
I have been wanting to read the classics, this should be a great motivator to actually do it!
Looking forward to this challenge. Just found you via google. Shooting for 52 classics this year.
Count me in...thanks!
Thanks for joining in everyone!
I'm signed up and ready to go. I'm going for 5 books and hoping to do more.
I've just signed up for the New Year! With twenty minutes to go, brilliant. Good luck to everyone, and happy reading...

Hi! I'm signed up for 6, but I was curious, can you move up the ranks if you read more, or are you locked in at the level you chose initially?
I have several classics on my shelf I've been meaning to read, and this challenge will help me finally do it! Thanks for posting the challenge!
Thanks for joining!
@SpitFire, you can upgrade your level but not downgrade it. So if you pick bourgeois you can upgrade to knight along the way but you can't go down to peasant.
ps: that name sounds familiar, dragon from Septimus Heap series?
Thank you for creating this challenge! I have been wanting to read nineteenth century British novels and you have just provided me with the perfect motivation. I look forward to following all of the other readers progress on this challenge :)
Ms. C.
This was one of my blogging resolutions, ironically! Can't wait to get started. ;D
So at the risk of sounding dumb, I finished my first book... Do I need to notify anyone? or am I all set?
@mflick1, I will post follow up post by the end of every month. You can link your review and tell me your progress ^^
Thanks!
I can't seem to find the January page for posting reviews ...
