Book Blogger Hop (2) &Follow Friday (4 & 5)

Book Blogger Hop
Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee. Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer of Crazy-For-Books.

I can't believe it's that time of the year again. *sniffs* Yesterday was the last day of our preliminary exams and I'm so happy I survived it without nose bleeding, fainting, vomiting or whatever. I just hope my grades would survive too. *fingers crossed* ALSO! Only 8 days to go before Christmas!! Aren't you excited?? The Simbang Gabi (Mass at Dawn), also, has started a couple of days ago in my country. It sucks that I wouldn't get to complete it. Again. Simbang Gabi is a yearly tradition in the Philippines that starts Dec. 16 and ends Dec. 25. where people go to church at dawn (usually 4-5 am) for 9 days. If you get to complete those 9 days, you will be entitled to make a wish. Which will be granted, of course. *winkwink*
bibingka
Puto bungbong
Usually, it's also the time when stores that sell Bibingkas and Puto bungbongs pop up like mushrooms in the streets. They are rice cakes and you don't go home from the mass without buying those. Sometimes, those two are what I really look forward to Mass at Dawns... yum.

Book Blogger Hop: This week's question comes from Alex who blogs at Geek on the Brink:

"What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?"

Mithee says: Both. The plot and the characters play a vital role in a story. Sometimes, if I don't like a story's plot but it has some kickass characters, I'd keep reading it. If the story has boring characters but has a mind-blowing plot, I'd keep reading it as well.

Lyn says: Both but first and foremost: the plot. I can stand bad characters in interesting plot but good characters in bad plot is such a waste!

Kay-c: It depends. Though I would preferred both. But sometimes plot leads me to love the characters. But sometimes if I love the character I will have to force myself to love the plot as well. So It just depends on how I would I appreciate the book.

Follow Friday: This week's question comes from Carmel at Rabid Reads:

What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?

Mithee says: I am currently studying Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. It's very toxic, but I hope to finish it in two years.

Lyn says: I studied communication and what I've learned practically used in every kind of job that require communication. But my primary job isn't related to broadcast or PR world.

Kay-c says: Me? I am currently studying Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Major in Tourism :D

Anyway, since we weren't able to post our FF #4 last week, this will serve as our FF 4&5!

@snifflykitty: they are made of rice. Both are Filipino delicacies. You only get to buy them around Christmas season.

Happy HOP! This week's question wasn't so simple to answer but ultimately it was characters for me. That's where I make my connection to the story. LOVE your blog and I'll be back.

I agree I think they both go hand in hand. :)

Mithee_ Pharmacy is actually very interesting. What are you trying to do in the field. Just curious I'm a Pharmacy tech. :)

I love all your answers! It was a hard decision for me too, but personally, I think that the story and plotline are equally as important as each other, so I agree.

Your blog is adorable, by the way, and I'm definitely following you for more reviews and awesome posts!

Happy reading,

I did not go to college, and I am currently retired. I worked for over 15 years in the secretarial division of Emery Air Freight in the 1960s and 1970s. I was a stay-at-home mom for the 1980s and 1990s, and now I am helping my daughter with her business, Tribute Books as the volunteer office manager.

New follower from the Hop! Great answers and I agree that this was a difficult decision. In the end I choose plot, but went back and forth several times… Stop by and say hi when you get a chance!

I prefer characters over plot. But both are important. Happy Blog Hop.

This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I've seen to date.

So what's the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.

It was a tough question this week. I have to go fifty/fifty on plot & characters. It really depends on the book. I'm in high school right now so I can't answer the FF question. New follower though! :)
