Firelight by Sophie Jordan

Title: Firelight
Author: Sophie Jordan
(Goodreads)

Review:

I have to say I was so disappointed with Firelight. I expected a lot from it since most reviews I read about it were all raving about how good this was. People said it was different, and I have to agree with them on that. I mean, how many young adult novels have you read with teenagers having the ability of transforming into dragon-looking humans, complete with smoke coming out of their noses and ears? Oh, and they can fly too!

But aside from those, Firelight is actually one of those cliched young adult novels. I wasn't impressed with the plot. And characters were annoying too. Jacinda is selfish. She claims she worries about her mother and sister - which she really does. But in the end, it's always about her. Also, I tend to have major crush on most male main characters in books, but Will? I didn't feel anything for him at all. I might even be annoyed with him too.

I also didn't like how people around Jacinda kept secrets from her. Especially her mom whose secret wasn't even worth keeping. I kept guessing what it was that her mom wants that she preferred living away from the tribe, and when it was finally revealed, all I could do was roll my eyes.

Did I also mention how creepy it is that Jacinda suddenly gets horny when Will is around the vicinity? Even if she doesn't see him, her body feels him. And then she gets all hot...

Anyway, despite all those I said above, I still managed to finish the book as fast as a lightning strike. Actually, if it weren't for Jacinda being too annoying, I might not have finished it.
